Yes, that's right Purple. Why Purple? Well, it's my favourite colour, always has been. So that part was easy!

After returning back to the UK after living in Dubai for a couple of years, I knew I would one day work for myself again. In my opinion is there is nothing better than teaching people lifesaving skills. I had been delivering first aid courses for the past 10 years and there was no way I was going to stop now.

After finding my feet in the lovely Spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire, I decided it was time to take the leap of faith. The time was perfect for me and my family.

In August 2016 Purple Umbrella Training was launched....I had done it!

My list of customers has grown quite quickly, with the help from word of mouth and the fantastic 5 star reviews on Google and my Facebook page. Work has been constant and increasing with returning customers. That's got to be a good sign!.

I'm passionate that everyone should learn first aid no matter what age they are, it's a skill that can be used on anyone, anywhere and can make a huge difference to someone's life.

I've made sure my courses are enjoyable, fun, empowering and most importantly give confidence to each person who attends. For me first aid isn't about ticking a box, it's about ensuring people have the confidence to act and use their skills when the time comes.

So why Umbrella?...well, I wanted to have a symbol that represented being covered, because with us, you are. From first aid, defibrillator, manual handling, fire safety, mental health awareness all the way through to crisis management and emergency planning training. That's quite a list with more exciting opportunities on the horizon but I'll reveal these another time.

And the other reason I chose Umbrella, well let's face it, living in Buxton famous for its water...Umbrellas are used a lot!

Purple Umbrella...We've got you covered! (See what I did there?)

Thanks for reading my first blog, I hope you enjoy the others. Don't miss my next one, where I share my top 5 Myths in First Aid and the following one where I will reveal when I knew I needed to do the Job I do today...
